For those who don’t know, Keith Brown is a talented local artist living in Glencaple. A civil engineer by trade, Keith started painting around 30 years ago. He is strongly influenced by the beauty, light and natural abundance of the Caerlaverock estuary and Solway coastline.

IMG_2420Keith usually paints from his Bowhouse Farm studio, when he’s not involved in home/ garden improvement projects! Whilst he hopes to get back into sculpture in the near future, he enjoys painting for relaxation at present, aiming to complete a painting a week.

His love of painting is matched by his dedication to his dog training!

IMG_2413Keith has exhibited at many game fairs and other exhibitions nationwide. He has participated in the local Spring Fling weekend, and been invited to take part in the Rattray Festival in Perth. Commisions come from ornithologists, wildfowlers, local enthusiasts and from people who just love a good painting!

Keith’s oil and acrylic paintings predominantly feature wildfowl and waders, often against beautifully back-lit skies.

IMG_2408He works mainly from his sketches, and uses his first-class background knowledge of species and habitat to compose his atmospheric work. His style gives more of an impression than an anatomical illustration, whilst retaining accuracy in detail and a sense of realism.
The paintings speak for themselves!
