Two Dumfries girls, Elia Davidson and Kate Kyle took to the stage first and performed songs written by themselves as well as covers of other hits. This was the girl’s first stage appearance but it will certainly not be their last as they overcame nerves and proved themselves wonderful young musicians!

Refreshments were served at the intermission including extremely tasty home-baking made by support worker Susan Leslie and served up by volunteers Jane Milven and Dorothy Jones. After tea a huge list of raffle prizes donated by the local community were all drawn and awarded.

Pam Taylor, American Roots singer from South Carolina then took to the stage and wowed the audience with her amazing talent, singing soulful  blues and American Roots songs from her new album ‘Steal Your Heart’. Pam is a true artist of her genre and is currently on the first stages of a European tour but she kindly took time out to support the charity in Glencaple!

The concert was the brain child of one of the charity’s volunteers, Angus Hoban from Parkgate who made the connections with Elia, Kate and Pam and, supported by Volunteer Co-ordinator Bill Milven and Glencaple Team Leader Brian Cameron, a great show was put on. £500 was raised and this money will be spent for the benefit of people with disability living in the charity’s 24/7 supported living units.

“The event was a ‘concert –ed’ effort by everyone involved; the artists, charity staff, volunteers, the local community who donated truly amazing raffle prizes, the village hall committee who helped so much and Malcolm Laurie who provided free graphic design. I was proud to be part of the team organising such a worthwhile event and I’m very grateful to the people of Glencaple and surrounding area for their support!
